As human beings, we have our ups and downs. We get stuck when our energy doesn't circulate and when our mental patterns become habitual and rigid. We feel stressed and over whelmed. Because we feel so separate from who we are or we feel that it is impossible to make a change, we feel pain. Pain doesn't feel good, so we medicate ourselves. While these distractions may provide varying degrees of relief, none of these solutions help us feel truly alive, connected or empowered. Not only that, but they deplete us! We no longer experience our own vibrant nature of well being.
Times are a changing.... Yoga and meditation are no longer a luxury but a necessity. We want to feel happy. We want to feel like we can make a difference on the planet. We want to feel relaxed. We want to feel healthy. Kundalini Yoga is a powerful tool that uses breath, movement, meditation, mantra and relaxation to help the body, mind, emotions and spirit find balance and wholeness again. Truly, no equipment, special mat, clothing or physical flexibility is needed to experience the benefit of a regular daily practice.
Discipline is your friend.
We need a way of strengthening ourselves so that during the challenges of everyday life, we can ride that wave with ease, grace and even joy! And while we may know many things in our head about what we should do, we will only really experience relaxation, joy and wellness if we PRACTICE. Yogi Bhajan, The Great Master of Kundalini Yoga said it best, "It does not matter if you know, the question is do you practice?"
Think of it this way, you know that brushing your teeth is a daily practice that you don't think twice about, right? If you know brushing your teeth is good for you but you don't "feel like doing it", you know what happens when you don't brush. Your teeth get that fuzzy, yucky feeling.
You can't think your way into a clean and fresh mouth. You must practice the fine art of brushing your teeth. Everyday.
The same can be true for your internal mental, emotional, physical and spiritual life. If you don't utilize tools that are available to you to help you stay feeling clean and fresh inside, you will feel fuzzy! This is called MAINTENANCE.
But there is another and perhaps more compelling reason to have a daily practice.
